Getting help with Python

Python, much like powershell has an interactive help console compiled with the python installation. To use the inbuilt help, type the help method "help()".

help()

The python
help()
method sets the terminal prompt to
help>
where any keywords typed will bring up Python's inbuilt documentation on that resource. This method is helpful in identifying Python's official documentation on commands, modules and topics.

As an example in
help>
prompt type
import
to bring up documentation on the import command.

Help> import

When using Python in the terminal prompt you will notice the txt ouput is limited by the width of the Python window. To scroll in Python in instances to see more txt you will see a –More – footer, press the <spacebar> key to skip by page where the page break is the – More – footer of the output.

To exit help type
quit

quit

Two major versions of Python are currently in active use: Note that Python 2 commands may still be used in Python 3 by importing the Python 2 legacy commands module. The full documentation on how to perform may be found on the official Python documentatin. https://docs.python.org/3/howto/pyporting.phpl
